Social Media Manager

Who We Are Looking For: We the Veterans and Military Families seeks a creative and strategic Social Media Manager to amplify our mission of empowering veterans and military families to strengthen America. The ideal candidate will have exceptional digital storytelling abilities, a passion for positive, patriotic civic engagement, and an understanding of the veteran and military family community. 

About Us: We the Veterans is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization created by veterans and military family members committed to building a more perfect union. Our mission is to empower the veteran and military family community to strengthen America with a focus on patriotic participation. We unite private and public sector experts and leaders to find solutions to our country's biggest challenges. We bring those solutions to life through convenings and programming aimed at engaging and empowering the veteran community, our supporters, and allies to take action in their local communities and beyond. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Content Development

  • Develop (in conjunction with program directors and executives) and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that advances our mission and promotes our programs

  • Create engaging, mission-aligned content that resonates with the veteran and military family community and the general public

  • Ensure consistent messaging across all digital platforms that reinforces our organizational values

Community Management & Growth

  • Build and maintain an active social media presence that enhances our reputation as a trusted voice

  • Monitor social conversations relevant to veterans and military families

  • Respond to comments and direct messages in a timely and appropriate manner

  • Develop strategies to grow our follower base and engagement metrics

  • Engage with other trusted brands in the VMF community to establish a digital rapport and presence with partner organizations

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track and analyze social media metrics to measure impact and continuously improve engagement

  • Provide regular reports on social media performance and insights

  • Make data-driven recommendations for strategy adjustments

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with program directors to highlight success stories and impact

  • Support the organization's marketing and communications efforts

  • Collaborate with the development team on fundraising campaigns and donor engagement

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred (relevant experience will be considered in place of degree)

  • 3+ years of experience in social media management and digital communications

  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms and analytics tools

  • Experience with content creation and basic graphic design using tools such as Canva or Adobe design suite

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities

  • Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor

  • Self-starter and creative problem-solver who operates with excellence in mind

  • Strong connection to and understanding of the veteran and military family community

  • Passion for civic engagement and a commitment to strengthening America

Work Location: Remote 

Time Commitment: Full-time 

Salary Range: $50,000-$72,000, commensurate with experience

Flexible work schedule based on marketing demands and campaign needs

Approximately 10% travel may be required for events, team meetings, and special projects
