  • Ben Keiser joined the Marine Corps while attending college and continued his service in the reserves throughout law school, including a deployment to the theater for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). After graduating, he worked at a large law firm in Washington, D.C., and New York, specializing in sustainability. He is currently the Chief Risk Officer at Elutions, a multinational AI company. 

    Ben is the son of a Navy surface warfare officer who served during the Vietnam era and the grandson of an Army medic from World War II. He lives in Phoenix, AZ, with his wife and their rescue dog.

    In addition to his professional responsibilities, Ben serves on the board of the We the Veterans Society for American Democracy and is the Executive Chairman of the We the Veterans Foundation. In his role as Executive Chairman, he co-chairs the board, advises the executive team, and collaborates with the Executive Director to establish strategic directions and operational priorities.


  • Ellen Gustafson is a proud Navy spouse and the granddaughter of both a Navy and a Coast Guard serviceman. She is the co-founder and Executive Director of We the Veterans & Military Families, a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the veteran and military family community. The organization aims to promote patriotic citizenship and strengthen democracy. Ellen is also the organizer of the Vet the Vote Coalition. 

    Additionally, she co-founded the Military Family Building Coalition, the first non-profit organization focused on supporting active-duty military personnel in building their families. 

    Prior to her entrepreneurial journey, Ellen co-founded FEED and Food Tank and co-directed the Summit Institute. She has held positions at the Council on Foreign Relations, the United Nations World Food Program, and ABC News. Ellen is the author of "We the Eaters: If We Change Dinner, We Can Change the World." She has been recognized as a Fortune Most Powerful Women Entrepreneur and has delivered four TEDx Talks. Ellen lives in Virginia with her husband and their three young children.

    Gen. (Ret.) Paul Mikolashek

    Paul T. Mikolashek is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General and currently serves as a Highly Qualified Expert and Visiting Professor with the U.S. Army War College Center for Strategic Leadership and the Department of Distance Education. Mikolashek served in the U.S. Army for more than thirty-five years, where he held the rank of Lieutenant General and was Inspector General. After retiring from the Army, he worked for the Raytheon Company for nine years, serving as Vice President for responsible business development and achieving international growth goals.

    Chris Marvin

    Chris Marvin, is the founder of Marvin Strategies, LLC, where he specializes in narrative strategy for social change. His work centers on activating purpose-driven narratives in areas such as veteran engagement, national parks advocacy, gun violence prevention, and civic participation.

    A former Army officer and Black Hawk pilot, Chris founded Got Your 6 to promote accurate portrayals of veterans in media.

    He has led strategic campaigns for a variety of clients, including Everytown for Gun Safety and The Mission Continues. Additionally, Chris has consulted for entertainment companies, helping to shape projects that focus on social impact and veteran authenticity.

    As a veteran and public service advocate, Chris is recognized for his contributions to veterans’ affairs and civic engagement. He has received several awards and holds advisory roles with various organizations.

  • Hillary Crow, Vice President, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Leader of The Civic Trust® Initiative

    Hilary Crow

    Hilary Crow is the Vice President of the Civic Trust initiative at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, where she focuses on promoting civic literacy, and prioritizing national interests.

    In her role, Hilary leads the National Civics Bee®, an annual competition aimed at enhancing civic literacy among middle school students, their families, and communities. Currently active in 40 states, the Bee has plans to expand to all 50 states by 2026.

    Previously, Hilary managed public education initiatives at the Foundation, launching programs such as Path Forward and Fast Forward. Hilary is a member of the Jack Miller Center’s National Civics Council and the Virginia250 Commission’s Education Steering Committee.

  • Ada (ID) County Clerk, Air Force Veteran

    Trent Tripple

    Trent Tripple is a dedicated public servant, veteran, and proven leader committed to upholding the integrity of Ada County’s government. He was sworn in as the Ada County Clerk in January 2023, after serving five years as the Chief Deputy Clerk in the same office. 

    A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Trent earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering while also competing as a college football player for four years. Later, he obtained a Master’s in Business Administration, equipping him with skills to lead in both military and civilian spheres.

    Trent proudly served for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot and Squadron Commander. This experience fostered a deep commitment to service, discipline, and mission readiness

    Jennifer Passey

    Jennifer Passey is the Senior Director of Communications at the USO and brings over 20 years of experience from her work in Washington, DC, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and New Delhi, India. 

    Throughout her career, Jennifer has held various positions, including legislative associate, expatriate advocate, and communications manager, prior to joining the USO.

    A resident of Fairfax since 2010, Jennifer has served on the City Council, the Planning Commission, and the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. In 2021, she was honored as the City of Fairfax Woman of Influence.

    Originally from Blaine, Minnesota, Jennifer moved to the Washington Metropolitan Area to attend The George Washington University.

  • Kim Wyman, former WA Secretary of State, military spouse

    Kim Wyman

    Kim Wyman served as Washington's 15th Secretary of State from 2013 to 2021. 

    Currently, she is the President of ESI Consulting and a Senior Fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center. During her tenure as Secretary of State, Wyman pioneered vote-by-mail elections and facilitated Washington's transition to universal mail-in voting.

    She also spearheaded initiatives for state election security, led the bipartisan development of VoteWA, and collaborated on national efforts related to election integrity.

    Wyman graduated from California State University, Long Beach, and earned her master's degree in Public Administration from Troy State University. In 2015, City University of Seattle awarded her an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership.

  • Sheila Casey, former COO of The Hill and Pluribus News, military spouse

    Sheila Casey

    Sheila Casey has had a successful career managing organizations at the intersection of media, government, and veteran affairs. Most recently, she served as a Special Assistant to the President and as the Director of Joining Forces, the First Lady’s initiative supporting military and veteran families, caregivers, and survivors. 

    Prior to that, Sheila was the Chief Operating Officer at CPR Media and Pluribus News, a digital startup focused on key issues influencing policy at the state level. She also spent over 20 years as the Chief Operating Officer at The Hill. 

    Sheila is a two-time recipient of the Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Medal, the highest recognition given by the Department of Defense. Additionally, she has received the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Impact Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Order of the White Plume for her contributions to enhancing the quality of life for Army families.

    Tessa Robinson is the former Editor-in-Chief of We Are The Mighty, where she oversaw more than 100 writers who are veterans and military spouses. Together, they covered topics including military history, current events, entertainment, sports, and inspiring stories of individuals supporting the military community. 

    Currently, Tessa serves as the Director of Partnerships at Recurrent Media, focusing on military and defense as well as science and technology. Her work reaches over 70 million readers each month, including 18 million readers connected to the military.

    Besa Pinchotti

    Besa Pinchotti is an award-winning journalist and marketer whose passion for our military began during her time as a reporter and television news anchor. She is an award-winning journalist and a nationally-recognized expert on military families. 

    She has been featured on CNN, CBS News, NBC News, Military Times, Military.com, NPR and more. She was named a Military Spouse Influencer to Watch by Military Spouse Magazine in 2021. In 2022, she spoke at the First Lady’s Luncheon and launched a partnership with the Congressional Club to support military spouses pursuing careers in public affairs and government. 

    Besa co-chaired The Military Coalition’s Communication Committee, representing 35 organizations. She received awards for her philanthropic work and support of military families.

  • Eric Bronner, Founder, Veterans for All Voters, Navy veteran

    Eric Bronner

    Eric Bronner graduated with Honors from the United States Naval Academy in 1997. After college, he served on Active Duty for eight years as a Naval Flight Officer, Mission Commander, and Navy ROTC Recruiter and Instructor. Eric and his young family moved to St. Louis in 2005, where he graduated cum laude from Washington University School of Law in 2009, after which he practiced law and had a successful real estate business.

    In early 2019, Eric served as the board president of "Show Me Integrity," a political reform organization. This experience, combined with his desire to engage in politics as an independent, fueled his passion for finding a platform for nonpartisan reform. In 2021, he founded the nonprofit organization Veterans for All Voters, which aims to mobilize a national, veteran-led community to ensure that all voters can fully participate in publicly funded elections. Eric is a father of three and resides in St. Louis, MO.

  • Clint Bruce, Co-Founder and CEO of TRG Ventures, Navy veteran and former NFL player

    Clint Bruce

    Clint Bruce was a four-year letterman at middle linebacker, serving as captain and MVP of the 1996 Aloha Bowl Championship team, and was named to multiple All-Star teams. He had the opportunity to play with both the Baltimore Ravens and the New Orleans Saints, and he was inducted into the Navy/Marine Corps Stadium Hall of Fame.

    However, Clint's desire to serve ran deep. He left the NFL to pursue a career as a Navy SEAL, successfully completing BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training) in 1998 with Class 217. Joining SEAL Team Five, Clint participated in multiple deployments, both pre- and post-9/11, that were directly involved in counter-terrorism and national security missions. After leaving the Navy, Clint founded several companies and a foundation.

  • Thom Tran, Comedian and Army veteran

    Thom Tran

    Thom Tran is a former Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Army and a current broadcast journalist, writer, performer, and advocate for U.S. military veterans based in Los Angeles, CA. He began his career as a stand-up comedian after a combat injury ended his service as a soldier. Thom enlisted in the Army at the age of 18, even before completing high school. Throughout his military career, he served as a Communications Sergeant and a Civil Affairs Sergeant within the Army’s Special Operations Community.

    When he isn’t on the road, Thom resides in Hollywood, CA, where he performs at The World Famous Laugh Factory and various clubs across Southern California. He also serves as the midday traffic anchor for a SoCal radio station, KNX 1070-NewsRadio.

    Additionally, Thom occasionally acts; he has co-starred in shows such as “Black-ish” on ABC and “SEAL Team” and “NCIS: Los Angeles” on CBS. Recently, his passion for rock music has led him back on stage as the lead guitarist for a heavy metal and cover band he co-founded called The Thom Tran Band, performing at bars and nightclubs throughout Southern California.

  • Nate Boyer, Co-Founder of Merging Vets and Players, former Green Beret and NFL Player

    Nate Boyer

    Nate Boyer joined the Army in 2005 and earned the prestigious Green Beret in December 2006. He was stationed in Okinawa and completed deployments in Iraq as well as multiple tours in Afghanistan. In addition to these deployments, Boyer participated in several Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) missions in Israel, Bulgaria, and Greece.

    As a five-year player for the Texas Longhorns, Boyer served as the starting long snapper for point-after-touchdown (PAT) and field goals (FG) during his last three seasons and also handled punt-snapping duties in 2013 and 2014. He has received numerous awards from ESPN and the NFL, including being named the 2012-2013 Big 12 Sportsperson of the Year. In 2012, he became the first-ever recipient of the Armed Forces Merit Award presented by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Additionally, Nate is the co-founder and board president of Merging Vets and Players.

  • Steven Weintraub, CSO of Vet Tix, Marine Corps veteran

    Steven Weintraub

    Steve Weintraub is the CSO of Vet Tix and his dedication to service began in 1987 when he enlisted as a Combat Engineer in the Marine Corps Reserves. Following his 1989 graduation from Arizona State University, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and served as a Logistics Officer. His active-duty career took him across the Western Pacific and the Persian Gulf, including a deployment to Somalia for Operation Restore Hope aboard the USS Rushmore

    Continuing his education, he earned an MBA in 2000. While in the Marine Corps Reserves, Steve answered the call to active-duty multiple times, completing two combat tours in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. After over three decades of service, culminating in his retirement as a Colonel in 2019, Steve remains deeply committed to the veteran community. This unwavering dedication was acknowledged with his inclusion in We Are The Mighty's MIGHTY 25 in 2021 and his induction into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame.

  • Brendan Plack, Senior Vice President, Public Policy and Government Affairs, NFL

    Brendan Plack

    Brendon Plack serves as the NFL's Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs. In this role, he leads the organization's government affairs efforts at both the federal and state levels, as well as in select international markets. Working alongside a team of government affairs representatives, Plack helps to shape the NFL's policy agenda and develop strategies to achieve those goals.

    Plack graduated with a double major in Business Administration and Economics from Augustana College. Prior to joining the NFL in 2019, he spent more than 15 years working in politics.
