William “Bill” Johnson
Army Veteran
Regional Manager, Military and Corporate Engagement of Merging Vets and Players
Bill Johnson is a decorated U.S. Army Veteran and seasoned executive leader with more than 40 years of experience spanning military leadership, nonprofit management, corporate development, and philanthropy. As Regional Manager for Merging Vets and Players (MVP), he drives community engagement and corporate partnerships to empower veterans and former professional athletes in their post-service and post-sport transitions.
Before joining MVP in 2024, Bill served as Director of Mission United at the United Way of Tarrant County, where he led strategic initiatives supporting thousands of veterans and their families through coordinated community partnerships. His leadership was instrumental in uniting more than 360 nonprofit organizations and developing the 2025–2027 Strategic Plan for Mission United, advancing collaborative impact across North Texas.
Bill previously served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Operations for the First Command Educational Foundation (FCEF), overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets, scholarship programs, and community outreach initiatives. His strategic vision increased community engagement by 30% and expanded FCEF’s educational impact nationwide.
In 2022, Bill transitioned to ReconRobotics as Director of Military and International Sales, leading operations across 23 countries and securing major defense contracts—including a $5 million partnership with the U.S. Army. His success in international business reflects the same adaptability and mission focus that defined his military career.
During his 30-year tenure in the U.S. Army, Bill served in a variety of elite leadership positions—from Special Forces Operator to Command Sergeant Major—culminating in senior advisory roles for major commands, including V Corps and the 1st Armored Division. His distinguished service earned him numerous awards, including the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star (with three oak leaf clusters), and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
Bill and his wife, Chriss—his high school sweetheart of nearly four decades—live in Mansfield, Texas. They enjoy biking, kayaking, hiking, and restoring classic vehicles together.
