Celebrating Flag Day, Service, and 250 Years of America

We're proud to host the third annual Flag Day Convening — bringing together veterans, military families, civic leaders, and partners from across the country to honor Flag Day and America's 250th birthday. This year's theme centers on the unifying power of sports and the enduring strength of our veteran and military family community.

Join us for an evening of meaningful conversation, civic celebration, and recognition of those who continue to serve and inspire.

Rooftop Reception

Kick off the evening with cocktails, food, and conversation on the rooftop terrace of the iconic Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library — one of Washington's most celebrated civic spaces.

Keynote Panels: How Sports Unites America

Hear from special veteran and military family speakers on the powerful role sports plays in bridging communities and embodying American values.

America 250 Civics Bee

Hosted in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, this special program honors the 250th birthday of the United States through civic knowledge and celebration.

Award Reception

The evening concludes with the presentation of the Continued Impact Award and the Patriotic Program Award, recognizing organizations and individuals making a difference for veteran and military families.

The Flag Day Convening is proud to recognize outstanding individuals and programs that embody the spirit of service, patriotism, and community. We are now accepting nominations for two awards to be presented at the 2026 Flag Day Convening on June 10th in Washington, D.C.

CONTINUED SERVICE AWARD

This award honors a member of the veteran or military family community who exemplifies continued service to the nation through leadership, advocacy, and community impact. The ideal nominee has carried their patriotic service into civilian life — through civic volunteering, community leadership, or work with a VSO, MSO, or similar organization — and inspires others to do the same.

SERVICE TO SERVICE FELLOW AWARD

This award honors a fellow who exemplifies the highest ideals of continued service — both in the classroom and in the community, carrying the values of military life into their academic pursuits and civic engagement. Through their leadership and volunteerism, this honoree inspires fellow veterans, military family members, and students alike to pursue lives of purpose, impact, and service.

PATRIOTIC PROGRAM AWARD

This award honors a program or initiative making an outsized impact — locally or nationally — by harnessing the strength of the veteran and military family community. The ideal nominee empowers others to give back, inspires civic action, and reflects the positive patriotism that brings Americans together.
