We kick off our series of events with our inaugural Runway 5k - Run/Ruck at Ellington Airfield, bringing together veterans, military families, and community supporters for fitness, community, and fundraising. The day continues with community service, demonstrating VMF commitment to strengthening local communities through action.

CIS transforms the common message of "what can we do for veterans" to "what can veterans do for our communities." Through actionable programming, meaningful connections, and innovative partnerships, we showcase how America's most trusted leaders—our veterans and military families—continue strengthening our nation through civic engagement, community leadership, and collaborative service.

The CIX will display offerings for veterans and military family members in Greater Houston and beyond to continue their service - whether in their day jobs or as volunteers - and will try to provide opportunities for all skills and time commitment levels.

The evening culminates with a reception celebrating the Marine Corps' 250th birthday, honoring our military heritage, as well as an impact awards ceremony, celebrating and looking toward the future of VMF leadership.
