We the Veterans & Military Families Launches “Protect Your Six & Sanity” PSA Campaign
Washington, D.C. – We the Veterans & Military Families (WtVMF) today announced the launch of Protect Your Six & Sanity, the second installment in its Protect Your Six PSA series, aimed at raising awareness about how bad actors and foreign adversaries exploit artificial intelligence (AI) to target the veteran and military family (VMF) community. The video, which will be broadcast nationally across digital platforms, will be amplified by numerous veteran and military service organizations.
“Scammers are quick to exploit new technology, and generative AI is no exception,” said Ellen Gustafson, Co-Founder and Executive Director of WtVMF. “This campaign builds awareness so that our veteran and military family members and their loved ones don’t fall for AI-driven scams and fake benefits advertisements."
Developed through WtVMF's Homefront Sentinel program, the campaign addresses a growing threat: foreign adversaries and bad actors are targeting the VMF community with scams, cyberattacks, and influence operations that can result in financial loss, social isolation, and negative mental health outcomes.
Moments of global uncertainty tend to bring out both the best in our community – service, compassion, and solidarity – and the worst in those who seek to exploit it. As tensions in the Middle East have dominated headlines, reports have surfaced of scammers targeting veterans and military families with fraudulent schemes and impersonation attempts. The Homefront Sentinel program conducts expert research on these threats to increase our community’s resilience against them.
